Angsty Poetry

Spread the love

Once upon a time, there was this woman who talked too much. She was living on the fourth floor of an apartment near Yonge & Davisville, on the subway line in Toronto. That last part is relevant because so many adventures happen on the subway, and when you don’t have a car, you notice far more things about human behavior. Which is frankly delicious for a writer.

In 2008 she started writing poetry again. Her life had gone through another transition, where she played the role of a young divorced woman, with a small dog, living in an overpriced apartment, across the hall from the garbage shute. Ah, the smells of international cooking!

She created a blog on a free platform, so that, should she die, the writing could exist hopefully in perpetuity. For people to randomly find inspiration in, or gratitude for the peaceful uneventful lives they may have lived, by comparison to The Guerilla Poetess, who still believed in love.

The poems are raw. They do not follow traditional forms, and some people have said that she created her own unique style. Somewhere between a want-to-be slam poem, and the musings of a middle-class raised, lower-income chick, trying to sort bricks in order on her demolished foundation.

Married. Divorced. Married. Moved to another country. Divorced. Determined to move home, and then, because God laughs at our best-laid plans, partnered with an incredible man. And clearly, staying in America until the wheels fall off.
